Plastic Alternatives

Plastic alternatives are materials that do the same job as plastic but break down more easily or come from plants. Examples include paper straws, bamboo toothbrushes and cloth bags. Choosing these items can reduce the amount of plastic waste.

Bamboo grows very quickly, which makes it a useful material for many everyday products. Some alternatives, however, need to be recycled correctly, so check the labels before you throw them away.
