Salt Water Density

Salt water is denser than fresh water because the dissolved salt adds mass to the same volume. Dense liquids push objects upwards more strongly, which is why people float more easily in the sea than in a swimming pool.

The Dead Sea is so salty that people can float on the surface while reading a newspaper. Its high salt content makes it very dense, so swimmers float easily.
