Sand Volleyball

Sand volleyball is played on a sandy court with teams of two. Players must dig, set and spike the ball over the net, often in hot sunshine. The soft sand makes every movement more tiring than on a hard court.

Beach volleyball became an official Olympic sport in 1996. Players often train on the sand to build the strength and agility the sport needs.
