The Electric Toaster

An electric toaster heats slices of bread using electric heating elements on each side of the slot. Many toasters use timers or sensors to stop when the bread is golden brown. Some toasters also have settings for bagels or frozen bread.

The first popular electric toasters were sold in the early 1900s and had to be watched closely to prevent burning. Modern toasters are safer and much more convenient to use.
