Plant a Hedge

A hedge is a row of shrubs or small trees planted close together. Hedges provide homes for birds and insects, act as windbreaks and can help protect soil. They also mark boundaries and make gardens feel private.

Hedgerows in the countryside are home to hundreds of species of plants and animals. Hedges that are cut at the right time of year still provide berries and shelter for wildlife.
