Osmosis

Osmosis is the movement of water through a thin membrane from a place with less dissolved stuff to a place with more. Plant roots use osmosis to take in water.

๐Ÿ’ก Fun fact

Eating a lot of salty food can make you thirsty because your body needs more water to balance it.

All about Osmosis

Osmosis is the movement of water through a thin membrane from a place where there is less dissolved stuff to a place where there is more. The membrane lets water pass but blocks many of the dissolved particles. Water keeps moving until the two sides are more balanced.

Plant roots use osmosis to take in water from the soil. Osmosis also explains why a cucumber slice goes soft in salty water, since water leaves its cells.
