All about Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs were a group of reptiles that lived on land for about 165 million years. They appeared roughly 230 million years ago and died out about 66 million years ago, when a huge asteroid and volcanic activity changed the climate.
Some were as small as a chicken. Many birds are actually living dinosaurs, descended from small feathered dinosaurs. Scientists learn about them from fossils, footprints and eggs.
They came in many shapes and sizes, from tiny feathered creatures to huge plant-eating giants longer than a bus.
Scientists also discovered that birds are their living relatives. Each new fossil discovery helps us picture what these amazing creatures looked like and how they lived.
