All about Mammals

Mammals are warm-blooded animals with hair or fur. Female mammals produce milk to feed their young, and most give birth to live babies rather than laying eggs. The platypus and echidna are unusual mammals that lay eggs.

Mammals include animals as different as mice, whales, bats and humans. Their bodies also share features such as a four-chambered heart and three tiny bones in the middle ear.

Mammals are found on every continent and in the sea, and they live in many different habitats. Their bodies are adapted to suit their lives, such as the thick fur of a polar bear or the strong flippers of a seal.
